On the occasion of World AIDS Day 2010 the Arunodaya Trust organised a big painting competition with HIV/AIDS as its theme. 300 colleges in Andhra Pradesh were approached, around 200 participated. Students from well-off backgrounds (a total of 400) paid a registration fee of Rs. 500/-. Students from underprivileged colleges participated for free. There were three prizes to be won. All students, 4.000 in total, were made aware of the work of the Arunodaya Trust for underprivileged children, deprived of education.

2. Channeling the local resources of student community from privileged background for mobilisation of local funds.

Remarques Wilde Ganzen

This is a good example of special day and theme-based fundraising combined with awareness creation for the cause of HIV/AIDS. Organising a painting competition and involvement of student from well-off as well as less privileged schools helps create awareness and better understanding.
