Résumé

"My name is Keo Somalita, Country Manager of the Kamboo Project Organization, located in Siem Reap Province. Our targeted schools are located in Prasat Bakong District. We work with around 30 schools, and they are all primary schools."
This is how Keo Somalita introduces her organisation and its activities, before telling us how much she benefited from the local fundraising training. Not only did the Kamboo Project Organization manage to raise funds for two projects. The organisation also passed on their fundraising knowledge and skills to the schools they work with, who, after their training, started raising funds independently and often do so very successfully as well.

Remarques Wilde Ganzen

We strongly recommend reading this example, as it has one very strong point: when the Kamboo Project Organization, after their training in local fundraising, discover that they were indeed successful in raising funds locally for their work, they immediately started teaching the lessons they had learned to the schools they support. Again they were successful. Some of the schools have surpassed themselves and were able to realise dreams they thought were impossible to achieve.

Brève description de l’organisation pour laquelle les ressources ont été mobilisées
An organisation with the name United Asia Charity was founded in September 2014 as a Swiss non-profit association. Through teamwork and improved fundraising, it became possible to expand and professionalise the local organisation in Cambodia. As a sign of this further development, a new name was chosen. The organisation has been called the Kamboo Project since 2018.

Brève description du projet ou du programme pour lequel les ressources ont été mobilisées

Ms. Keo explains the projects receiving support:

"In 2021, I joined a local fundraising class, organised by the Cooperation Committee for Cambodia (CCC). After class, our organisation initiated two fundraising projects: The Library Project and The School Supplies Project.

Through the School Supplies Project, we helped 200 students in the Prasat Bakong District. Each student received $20. For the Library Project, we contributed funds to support two libraries, each library received $1000."

Résumé de l'action de mobilisation de ressources
"Furthermore, I shared my knowledge about local fundraising with each targeted school's management team so they could raise funds independently for future endeavours. After teaching them the necessary techniques, we let them practice, and they were successful in raising funds. For example, we set a fundraising target of $1000 for each school. We've noticed that certain schools have already surpassed that figure, raising it to $2000. This highlights the importance of understanding local fundraising, as it not only benefits our organisation but also our beneficiaries in many ways.
Additionally, I taught nine other schools, including teachers and school committees, how to fundraise locally. We noticed that many of our beneficiaries are interested in creating fundraising plans and identifying potential donors. They have achieved great results and are satisfied and happy with the funds they received. For instance, one of our beneficiaries was finally able to successfully raise funds for the construction of their school's gate, which they had been attempting to build for a long time without success. Fortunately, after learning how to do fundraising, they successfully built their school gate and felt proud."

Plans pour repéter l’activité
"Further step, our team has planned two additional fundraising projects, scheduled for March and November 2024. In March 2024, we plan to launch a community forestry campaign and collaborate with the community to raise funds. The objective of this project is to help students who lack school supplies for their studies. We have chosen March to implement this project as schools will be taking a short break in April, and students will then be ready to return to school in May with the necessary school supplies."
