Résumé

Tullo Bollo Town did not have appropriate waste collection and disposal systems. As a result people, including children, faced illnesses due to poor sanitation and hygiene. Becho organised community (coffee) meetings to create public awareness on the adverse effects of waste and environmental pollution. Municipal offices, schools, kebele and religious leaders were also involved. It was decided to form waste collector groups to deal with the problem, at the same time offering employment to unemployed women and youth. The town was embellished with plants and several new public toilets were built.
