Social accountability is a response to governance challenges, and to unacceptable levels of poverty and inequality.
Social Accountability:
Strengthens public service delivery
Builds trust in public servants and government
Supports citizen influence in agenda-setting and policymaking
Empowers citizens to hold government accountable
Bridges the gap between citizen needs and government actions
This course is for social changemakers with some experience in lobby and advocacy who want practical tools to better engage local government officials in community development.
In this module, you'll explore the meaning and relevance of social accountability, key actors and factors, and opportunities for civic engagement in the public policy and budget cycle. You'll also gain tools to plan, monitor, and evaluate your social accountability interventions. Next to that, you work on your own Social Accountability Plan.
