Resumo

CEDO aims to improve the position of women and girls, by empowering them to take advantage of economic and social opportunities for strengthening the household’s economy. They provide training in entrepreneurial skills and information on women's and children's rights and at the same time raise awareness in the community about (sexual) violence against women and children and how to prevent it. The project for which CEDO is now raising funds has only just started. It aims to reach 150 women and girls from 5 wards in Nzega district and help them to start small industries in Batik, soap making and the production of alternative bags. The funds raised so far were a result of meetings with stakeholders to inform them about the programme and ask for their support.

Dicas e lições aprendidas

1. Successful: In this are we have learned that to use well the available opportunities, collaborating with stakeholders, donors, and beneficiaries, as well as using well the financial resources and time, is the best way to achieve successful project implementation.
2. Challenges: Challenges such as political outlook, changes of the laws, traditions and norms, may arise during the project implementation. If they arise, we will explain clearly that our project is not political, and we will use the exisiting laws, also we will discuss with the traditional elders and find the best practices that will not affect the project and maintain gender equality.
3. Share with others: We will meet with the board and stakeholders to evaluate the project implementation activities, changes obtained will be taken as the project results. Also we will look at the challenges arisen during the project implementation and find solutions. The results obtained from the implementation of the project will be documented and shared with others in order to learn from what the project has done in empowering women and girls economically.

Revisão de Wilde Ganzen Foundation

CEDO chooses a holistic approach: they teach women entrepreneurial skills and help them to get started, while at the same time providing them with valuable information on women's and children's rights and building their confidence. Contributing to the household's income improves a woman's position and helps to prevent domestic violence. CEDO is now capable of delivering this message to the stakeholders they need to make their projects a success. The Change the Game Academy training in local fundraising in which trainees learn how to give a successful presentation to donors will have contributed to this.

Breve descrição do projecto ou programa para que o dinheiro foi arrecadado
Women and girls of Nzega District do not participate fully in economic activities due to gender-based violence, lack of entrepreneurship education, lack of capital and marketing research education. The Tanzania Demographic Health Survey for 2015 shows that 28.2% of Tanzanians live below the poverty line. The average adult basic income level is 26,085 Tanzanian shillings per month. A limited number of women and girls have access to financial services.
The presence of women not participating in the economic process at all levels of society in Nzega District has serious consequences such as increased child marriages, women becoming dependent on their husbands, unintended pregnancies, unemployment for women and girls, increased HIV prevalence, and deaths.
The project aims to empower women and girls economically to reduce acts of sexual violence against women and children. The project will empower women economically by providing education on gender-based violence, involving women and girls in the manufacture of batik, liquid soaps, bar soaps, and the manufacture of alternative bags as well as market research. The project aims to reach 150 women and girls from 5 wards in Nzega district, Tabora Region by January 2023.
