It starts with a dream … and before you know it, you find yourself founding an organisation to help people make their world a better place. At some point you are no longer a start-up, but a registered organisation, with people on the payroll. You have donors contributing to your work and you may spend a significant amount of time filling in applications and reporting forms to continue your work. It becomes important to create structure, to have a framework for decision making and apply the principles of good governance.
